Local Firms’ Philanthropy Makes Impact on Underserved Students of All Faiths

SOAR! Scholarship Fund

Edward Jones LLP,  RubinBrown LLP, and the Jones Family Foundation (the late Dennis Jones and Judy Jones, formerly of Jones Pharma) are making a difference in the lives of local elementary and high school students through the SOAR! Scholarship Fund at the Roman Catholic Foundation.

The SOAR! (St. Louis Opportunity and Achievement Realized!) Scholarship Fund, funded primarily through corporate donations, offers scholarships for underserved students of all faith traditions who wish to attend select Catholic elementary and high schools in the City of St. Louis and North St. Louis County. SOAR! scholarship recipients are selected based on household income, regardless of faith, allowing students of all backgrounds to access high quality education. Of the SOAR! scholarship recipients to date, 75% are of faiths other than Catholic, and the average household income is $26,073.

SOAR! Success

Since 2015, the Roman Catholic Foundation has awarded $3.54 million in SOAR! scholarships to 398 students, helping them attend excellent local Catholic schools. One example of such excellence comes from Cardinal Ritter College Preparatory High School, where 98% of the 2018 senior class graduated and went on to attend post-secondary school. This compares very favorably to surrounding public high schools.
