New President and CEO

As many already know, Mark Guyol announced last year that he would step back from his position as Founding President & CEO once a suitable replacement was found. As we look forward to the future, we are pleased to announce that Joe Bestgen will serve as our new President & CEO starting January 31, 2022. Joe most recently served as the CEO of Marygrove, a Catholic Charities agency, that provides a residential treatment center for children and young adults.

Joe Bestgen
President and CEO

Throughout his over thirty-year professional career, Joe has proven to be a successful executive sales and operational leader. He has decades of experience serving the Church at the parish, ministry, and archdiocesan levels. His faith is core to his identity, and he is known by many to be a man of integrity that is steady, passionate, and committed to mission. Joe and his wife have been parishioners of St. Alban Roe parish for the past 21 years.

Mark Guyol has agreed to continue to support the Foundation’s efforts as a Senior Advisor. This will allow Joe, as a new leader, to step in and continue the philanthropic vision of the Foundation to strengthen our Catholic community, while assuring the Foundation is able to retain the institutional knowledge built since its creation.

In 2013, the Roman Catholic Foundation was established with the mission of sustaining the parishes, schools, and Catholic ministries in our region for future generations. The Foundation led the Beyond Sunday campaign raising $110 million for Catholic parishes and schools. To date Beyond Sunday has distributed $43.2 million to parishes, $10.2 million in scholarships and $3.1 million in school grants. The Foundation currently has 224 funds and $69 million in assets under management. A total of $67 million has been granted out into our Catholic community in the Foundation’s first eight years.

We are so pleased to welcome Joe to the Roman Catholic Foundation and look forward to continued success under his leadership.
