What is YOUR
Catholic Legacy?

A Catholic legacy encompasses two vital components, the spiritual and the material, which include:

  • Your children & family
  • The spiritual impact you had on others
  • The work you’ve accomplished
  • The valuables you leave behind
  • Your charitable support of those in need
  • Support of your parish and the larger Church

An important part of your legacy is capturing your desires in a will or as a beneficiary designation. This proper planning gives you peace of mind.

Through this intentional giving, you can be generous to your family and the charities you love.

Start Reflecting with Gratitude on God’s Generosity

Consider the many ways in which God has blessed you. All that you have and all that you are is a gift from God: your life, your loved ones, and your possessions.

We are stewards of the gifts God has blessed us with. Who will be the next steward? It is your decision how His blessings will carry forward.

Charitable Giving is a part of your CATHOLIC LEGACY

Once you have made provisions for your loved ones, you have the opportunity to make a lasting gift to God by leaving a legacy donation to your parish. Your parish is often part of your family and where you encounter Christ in the sacraments. Sadly, parishes are often overlooked in favor of other charitable organizations. A legacy gift to your parish leaves both a spiritual and material impact for generations.

The Foundation’s staff has experience in structuring both simple and complex planned gifts to ensure your desires are achieved in the most tax efficient manner possible while providing the greatest impact.

If you wish to leave a lasting gift to support your parish, you will find information here.

You can also simply add your parish to your will or allow RCF to manage your bequest for you by adding the language below:

“I hereby bequeath the sum of $_____ (or percentage of… or residual of my estate) to the Roman Catholic Foundation of Eastern Missouri, Federal Tax ID#46-3309222, for the benefit of [specific name of parish and/or preferred designation(s)]”

Planned Giving Options

Bequest

A bequest is a gift made through your will or trust. A bequest is the simplest type of planned gift for you to make and easiest to implement.

IRA Rollover

An IRA rollover allows people age 70½ and older to reduce their taxable income by making a charitable gift directly from their IRA.

Life Estate Reserved

You can transfer the ownership of your personal residence to the Foundation, continue to reside there and when you leave, the property is sold to fund an endowment to support your favorite charities.

Charitable Remainder Trust

For larger donors, the CRT provides you with the ability to structure your income stream for life. After your lifetime, the trust will distribute to an endowment to support your favorite charities.

Donor-Advised Fund (DAF)

You fund a DAF with tax free or tax deductible gifts and/or make charitable gift recommendations during your lifetime. When you pass away, your children can carry on your legacy of giving.

Charitable Gift Annuity (CGA)

A charitable gift annuity is a great way to receive an income for life then make a gift to your favorite organization.

You make a gift to the Foundation, receive a charitable deduction and then receive an income stream for your lifetime. After your passing, the endowment you name in the CGA will support your favorite charities.

Gift of Life Insurance

You can transfer an existing policy or create a new policy with the Foundation as the owner and beneficiary. After your lifetime, the proceeds support your favorite charities.
