Honoring
Archbishop Robert J. Carlson

A Decade of Service to Our Church

The Most Reverend Robert J. Carlson was installed as Archbishop of St. Louis on June 10, 2009. During his time as shepherd of our archdiocese, Archbishop Carlson has made a tremendous impact on our Church. His passion for Catholic education, racial reconciliation and vocations along with his commitment to building a culture of life have fostered vibrancy in the Archdiocese of St. Louis to positively affect countless lives.

Under Archbishop Carlson’s leadership, the Alive in Christ! Mission Advancement Initiative was developed to strengthen Catholic schools. Beyond Sunday, a major component of that initiative, raised more than $110 million to offer scholarship assistance to middle-income Catholic school families and provide for parish needs. The Peace and Justice Commission was established to address societal issues facing our community through the lens of our Catholic faith. And finally, there has been significant growth at Kenrick-Glennon Seminary; enrollment is up from 115 seminarians in 2009 to 140 today.

In these ways and a multitude of others, Archbishop Carlson has guided our faith communities over the past ten years. We are ever grateful for his leadership.
